Set from 1910 to the early 1930s in Paris.
It's loosely based on the sculptor Rodin and his creation of "The Kiss" statue.
Woody is the resulting child of a very cold night liaison between two of Rodin's wooden mannequins. A little wooden boy that is missing his penis. And the story of his life in and around Paris and where he finds his missing part as a young adult in the 1930s.
The film has an unusual art direction - everything is as if Rodin sees it - as a statue. Time is frozen. Nearly everything is in b & w for most of the movie. All adults are nude statues. Your mind has to fill in the colour and texture of the scenes.
Apart from the camera, only 5 scenes have movement in the film.
